On 19 Apr 1807 Johan Friedrich Altevoght, single and a Heuerling in Wester (a
section of Ladbergen) stemming "aus Lienen" married Anne Christine Elisabeth
Brockriede a "gutsherrlich Jungfrau aus Wester" (a virgin of Wester) according to Ladbergen
Friedrich's cause of death was listed as "Schwindsucht," which literally is a wasting
away, therefore consumption or TB or the like. This was a very commonly
listed cause of death and appears to a generic, rather than specific.

Notes for HEINRICH WILHELM ALTEVOGT:
Heinrich's father Friedrich and the the neighbors Johan Herman Kotterhenrich and
Johan Wilhelm Eschman signed the declaration of registration of Heinrich's birth in Ladbergen. Heinrich and family continued to live in or near the city of Ladbergen, in the state of Westfalen, Germany until their immigration. At the birth of Arend Wilhelm Adolph, Heinrich and family were living "whohnheft bei seine mutter wittwe Altevogt im Felde" (in a dwelling by his mother, widow Altevogt in Felde). Heinrich immigrated with his family to the United States in 1860. Heinrich, his wife Maria, and children Ludwig, Catharine, Maria Louisa, Christine, Gesine, and Fredericke sailed from Bremerhaven on the ship Ocean arriving in Baltimore, MD on 16 May 1860. On some of his children's birth records, Heinrich is listed as a Neubauer or "new
farmer", the technical term for a person who created a new farm out of
previously uncultivated land -- the term may carry over more than one generation,
however. Heinrich was listed as a viktualienhandler (grocer or more likely a farmer) in the book called Auswanderer der Gemeinde 1830-1930 compiled by Hans Berleman in 1995 . Probable additional children Rudolph and Wilhelm who resided in Southern Illinois. (William in Staunton) have not been positively confirmed.
